Kelsey Franks

Kelsey Franks, who plays a pivotal role at our Vancouver-based Business Law Group, steers her legal acumen towards the realms of corporate and commercial law, with a special lens on the intricacies of technology, privacy, and cybersecurity. Her journey in law has seen her adeptly handle a broad spectrum of agreements within the technology, outsourcing, and general commercial arenas. Her proficiency spans various sectors, including finance, telecommunications, and retail, making her an asset to the firm’s National Cyber/Data and Technology Group. Additionally, Kelsey enriches our TechLex Blog with her insights, both as a writer and an editor.

Before her tenure at McCarthy Tétrault, Kelsey's academic pursuits led her to the University of British Columbia, where she graduated with honors in Political Science and International Relations in 2014. She then advanced to McGill University, earning her B.C.L./LL.B. in 2018, where she honed her editorial skills across several publications, notably as the Executive Editor of the McGill Law Journal.

In 2019, Kelsey’s legal prowess was formally recognized when she was admitted to the bar in British Columbia. Her professional affiliations are extensive, including membership in the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association. Moreover, her expertise in privacy law is underscored by her certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Canada.
