Brett Carlson

Joining FC&Z Family Lawyers back in 2017 marked the beginning of Brett's journey towards becoming a Partner in January 2020. His dedication knows no bounds as he extends his legal expertise to clients across Calgary and Vancouver.

With a diverse educational background, Brett holds a Bachelors of Arts and Science (BASc) degree in History and Psychology from the University of Lethbridge, alongside a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. His commitment to excellence doesn't end with his degrees; he's an accredited Family Law Mediator under the Law Society of British Columbia and a trained Collaborative Family Lawyer.

Embracing alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, Brett champions mediation and Collaborative Practice, recognizing the toll litigation can take on separating parties. In his experience, fostering communication, cooperation, and prioritizing children's well-being are paramount. Yet, Brett's prowess shines in the courtroom when necessary, having made appearances in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, and the Alberta Court of Justice.

Brett's approach is holistic and pragmatic, focusing on crafting tailored, cost-effective strategies that prioritize efficiency and resolution. His membership in the Law Society of Alberta, Law Society of British Columbia, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals underscores his commitment to legal excellence and professional growth.
