Kit Perrick

Kit's journey into law stems from a diverse background that shaped his unique approach to advocacy. Raised in the scenic landscapes of North Vancouver, he developed a love for outdoor activities like hockey, skiing, and sea kayaking.

Before transitioning to law, Kit immersed himself in education, earning degrees from the University of British Columbia and delving into international studies at the University of Oslo. His transition to law came in 2003 when he obtained his law degree from the University of Calgary.

Kit's professional journey took a significant turn when he was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2004 and Manitoba in 2005. Prior to this, he dedicated himself to secondary education as a teacher in North Vancouver School District #44. This background instilled in him a sense of compassion, patience, and trauma-informed advocacy that he carries into his legal practice.

With over two decades of experience in civil litigation, Kit has become a respected figure in Aboriginal law, civil rights, personal injury, and family law. His dedication to advocating for victims of abuse, particularly within First Nations communities, has earned him national recognition.

Kit's legal prowess extends beyond courtroom battles. He has actively engaged in Truth and Reconciliation efforts, representing various First Nations groups in legal proceedings across Western Canada. Moreover, he has contributed significantly to the MMIW findings and the report on Reclaiming Power and Place.

In his legal practice, Kit has taken on challenging cases against governmental authorities, particularly those involving false allegations of child abuse by the Ministry of Child and Family Development. His commitment to reforming the child protection system underscores his dedication to justice and fairness.

Despite his demanding legal career, Kit finds solace in spending time with his children and exploring the wilderness of British Columbia. Whether sea kayaking in Kyuquot Sound or venturing along the rugged coastline of Vancouver Island, Kit's adventurous spirit mirrors his relentless pursuit of justice in the courtroom.
