Halla Ahmed

At Branch MacMaster LLP's Toronto branch, Halla contributes as a litigation associate, having been welcomed into the fold in 2021. With her legal credentials firmly established in Ontario that same year, she delves into health and regulatory law, alongside insurance defence and class actions. Halla's courtroom presence spans the superior courts of British Columbia and Ontario, especially in matters of insurance and administrative law. Furthermore, she plays a pivotal role in assisting principal lawyers during various civil and class action appeals across the appellate courts of British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

Before her current role, Halla enriched her legal experience as a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of Justice, assisting the diligent judges of Central West. Her academic journey culminated in a Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2020, where she not only excelled academically but also demonstrated a keen interest in advocacy and community lawyering. Her participation in the university's moot competition and Osgoode Hall Law School's comprehensive program on Indigenous lands underscores her commitment. Moreover, her role in managing a human rights claim on behalf of an Ottawa-based Black community, addressing large-scale evictions, highlights her dedication to social justice.

Outside the courtroom, Halla's engagement with community initiatives shines. She champions youth civic participation, seeks to enhance diversity within the legal sector, and offers mentorship to Black and Muslim youngsters. Her personal interests are as diverse, encompassing travel and language acquisition. Her language skills were honed through immersive experiences, studying French in British Columbia at the University of Victoria and Arabic in Cairo, Egypt, at the Kalimah Institute.

Halla's academic credentials include a cum laude JD from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Science with high distinction from the University of Toronto, marking her as not only a legal professional of note but also a dedicated community advocate and lifelong learner.
