Nazanin Kohan AKA Naz Kohan is a lawyer in North Van, BC.

Naz Kohan's journey in the legal profession is both inspiring and reflective of her deep commitment to community and justice. Born and raised in North Vancouver, her academic pursuit began at the University of British Columbia, where she dove into the complexities of Political Science, laying the groundwork for her future in law. Her passion for legal studies took her to the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law, where her involvement with Pro Bono Students Canada highlighted her dedication to providing legal services to those unable to afford them.

In 2017, Naz achieved a significant milestone by being called to the bar, marking the official start of her legal career. But Naz's aspirations went beyond traditional legal practice. Her drive to make a tangible difference in her community and the legal profession at large saw her take on several influential roles.

As a Governor of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, Naz has been at the forefront of advocating for justice and fairness in the legal system. Her commitment to supporting victims of sexual violence is evident through her role as a Board Director at the WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre. Here, she contributes to strategies and policies aimed at supporting survivors and educating the community on issues of consent and violence.

Naz's involvement doesn't stop there. Recognizing the importance of nurturing the next generation of lawyers, she serves as a Member-at-Large on the Canadian Bar Association National Young Lawyers Section Executive. This role allows her to influence the development of young legal minds across the country, ensuring they're equipped with the values and skills necessary for justice-oriented practice.

In her hometown of North Vancouver, Naz takes her civic duty seriously, chairing the City of North Vancouver Social Planning Advisory Committee. This committee plays a critical role in advising the City Council on various social planning issues, ensuring that policies and initiatives reflect the community's needs and promote social welfare.

Naz's ability to communicate effectively in both English and Farsi has not only broadened her reach within diverse communities but also allowed her to serve as a bridge in understanding and addressing the legal concerns of Farsi-speaking residents.
