Shelina Neallani

Shelina Neallani, a seasoned mediator, lawyer, and coach, has dedicated her career to resolving disputes and fostering effective communication. Called to the British Columbia Bar in 1995, she has become a respected figure in her field. In 2023, she was appointed as an Assessor by the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner.

Shelina's credentials include membership in the Law Society of British Columbia, registration as a social worker with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, and accreditation as a Family Law Mediator and Arbitrator. She also belongs to Mediate BC’s Civil Roster and has previously been part of the Family and Child Protection rosters. Graduating from UBC Law School in 1989 and the UBC School of Social Work in 1986, Shelina has always blended her legal expertise with social work principles.

Throughout her career, Shelina has worn many hats, including that of a mediator, lawyer, social worker, and coach. Her broad perspective allows her to tackle a wide range of issues. She started her legal career in family law and insurance litigation but later transitioned to mediation and consulting. Her practice focuses on helping others resolve disputes and become the best versions of themselves.

Shelina’s private practice, established in 2006, has seen her mediate for Small Claims Court and consult on numerous projects related to dispute resolution and justice transformation for clients like Legal Aid BC, Mediate BC, and the Province of BC. She has also worked with organizations to improve workplace culture. Recently, she served as a lawyer counselor at the Lawyers Assistance Program of BC, bringing her passion for inclusion, connection, and kindness to the fore.

Shelina has also been involved in academia and public speaking. An accomplished writer and frequent presenter in conflict resolution and wellness, she has taught at the post-secondary level and participated in various initiatives promoting peace-making and inclusion. Married with two grown daughters, she enjoys a range of interests and cherishes time with her family, including her goldendoodle, Harry.

She also designs and implements dispute resolution services tailored to the specific needs of workplaces, focusing on collaborative processes to resolve complaints and conflicts. Her role as an assessor with the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner involves evaluating sports environments to ensure integrity and fairness.

• Neallani Law - Lawyer, Mediator, and Consultant (2006 - Present): Offers mediation, facilitation, and conflict coaching across civil and family law areas. Consults and writes for institutional clients like Mediate BC and Legal Services Society.

• Somers & Company – Associate Lawyer (2002 - 2006): Managed high volumes of court-related files, advised social workers, and attended various court proceedings.

• Wingham, Kinsman – Associate Lawyer (2001 - 2002): Handled provincial court cases, provided legislative advice, and mediated.

• Lawyers Assistance Program of BC (2022): Provided psycho-educational counseling and coaching for lawyers, presented on wellness topics.

• BC Ministry of Attorney General – Family Justice Services Counsellor (2006 - 2009): Mediated for separating parents, provided legal information, and referrals.
