Lily Zhang

Lily's career spans a vast array of legal terrains, including the realms of commercial litigation, construction law, and family and insurance law. Her proficiency has led her to advocate in both the BC Provincial Court and Supreme Court, alongside various administrative bodies.

Before ascending to her role as an associate, Lily's journey was marked by significant milestones. Notably, she served as a clerk for five justices at the British Columbia Supreme Court right after her graduation. Her early career also saw her immersed in the firm's activities, first as a summer student and then as an articled clerk.

In addition to her legal practice, Lily plays a pivotal role in the legal community. She holds the position of secretary and sits on the board of directors for the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers BC, contributing her expertise and insights. Her editorial talents shine through her work with The Advocate, where she serves as a contributing editor.

Lily's academic achievements during her law school years at the University of British Columbia are equally impressive. She was an integral part of the UBC Law Review as an associate editor and took active roles in the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program. Her commitment to access to justice was evident in her volunteering for the Access Pro Bono Civil Chambers Program. Lily's research skills were honed through her position as a research assistant, and her competitive spirit was showcased in her participation in the BC Law Schools Moot. Her academic excellence was recognized through several awards, including the Blake, Cassels & Graydon Prize for Commercial Transactions and the Thorsteinssons Prize in Taxation, among others.

Lily's command of Mandarin augments her legal prowess, enabling her to bridge linguistic divides in her practice.

Beyond the confines of her professional life, Lily's passions extend to the great outdoors, travel, and the thrill of Formula 1 racing. She finds joy in hiking, exploring new destinations, and spending quality time with her dog.

Lily's formal education underpins her legal acumen, with a Juris Doctor focused on Business Law from the University of British Columbia in 2020 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2017. Her admission to the British Columbia Bar in 2022 was a testament to her dedication and skill, marking the beginning of a promising legal career.
