Nikki Charlton

Nikki Charlton's entire legal odyssey has unfolded within the walls of Farris LLP, a journey that began with her induction to the bar in 2004 and saw her ascend to the role of partner in 2015. Her professional arena is the intricate domain of family law, where she engages in a multifaceted practice encompassing mediation, collaborative law, arbitration, and litigation. Nikki's expertise also extends to serving as a neutral party in resolving family law disputes. Her credentials include being an accredited parenting coordinator, family law mediator, and child interviewer.

In 2024, Nikki marked a significant milestone in her career by being elected as a Bencher, where she contributes her insights as a member of the Credentials Committee. Her academic foundation is robust, having graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria for her undergraduate studies and procuring her law degree from the University of British Columbia. Her commitment to legal education is demonstrated through her co-chairmanship of the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC’s Biennial Family Law Conferences in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023.

Nikki's involvement with professional organizations is both deep and varied. She dedicated six years to the board of the British Columbia Collaborative Practice Roster Society, during which she played a pivotal role in fostering the Pro Bono Collaborative Family Law Project. This initiative offers voluntary and confidential assistance to unrepresented parties navigating separation. Her board membership also extended to the BC Parenting Coordination Roster Society. Nikki is an active member of multiple legal associations, including the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the Hear the Child Society of BC.

Before entering the legal field, Nikki's career was marked by compassionate service as a respite and support worker, where she dedicated herself to assisting at-risk youth and children with disabilities. Her philanthropic spirit is further reflected in her involvement in various charitable fundraising endeavors and her board membership with the North Shore Disability Resource Association.

Away from her professional and volunteer commitments, Nikki finds solace and joy on the tennis court, passionately engaging in the sport. She is also deeply involved in the lives of her two teenage daughters, Ellie and Kate, balancing her time between her demanding career and her role as a mother.
