Embarking on her legal journey in Vancouver, British Columbia, Clare Sparks originally dedicated her expertise to family law. However, a shift occurred in 2018 when she relocated to Victoria, expanding her professional horizons to encompass estate litigation. This pivot allowed Clare to channel her extensive experience from the family law sector to adeptly assist blended families through their intricate and pivotal life transitions, now focusing her practice entirely on estate litigation.
Clare's journey has been marked by a rich tapestry of experiences across Canada's diverse landscapes. Her story begins in the Northwest Territories, where she was born, and Southern Ontario, where she grew up. Her academic pursuits then took her from coast to coast, studying at the University of King’s College in Nova Scotia, where she secured a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Italian Language, to the University of Victoria, earning her J.D. and developing a deep affection for Vancouver Island.
Her professional affiliations are extensive, including membership in the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association’s Wills, Estates, and Trusts Section, as well as the Women’s Lawyer’s Forum. Clare also invests time in nurturing the next generation of legal minds through her role as a mentor in the CBABC WLF Mentoring program.
Clare has contributed her knowledge to the legal community as an author, lending her insights to the Family Law Sourcebook for British Columbia in 2015, 2016, and 2017, as well as the CLEBC Family Practice Manual in 2021 and 2022, showcasing her commitment to advancing the field.
Beyond the confines of her legal practice, Clare’s passions are as diverse as her career. She finds joy in gardening, immersing herself in the study of new languages, and embarking on beach explorations on the Island with her husband and daughter, embracing the natural beauty that surrounds her.
