Since 1980, Thomas J. Butts has devoted his career to championing the rights of workers in San Jose, specializing in compensation law. His expertise has earned him a certification from the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization, distinguishing him in this field. Throughout his journey, Butts has not only led the Santa Clara County Chapter of the California Applicants’ Attorney Association as its past president but has also been an active participant in the Workplace Injury Litigation Group. This involvement underscores his commitment to supporting those affected by workplace injuries across the nation.

Butts’ legal prowess extends across all facets of worker's compensation, where he zealously represents his clients. His battlegrounds include the San Jose Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and the Social Security Administration's Office of Hearings and Appeals. His legal journey was fortified by a solid educational foundation, beginning with a Bachelor's degree from San Jose State University, followed by a Juris Doctor from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific. Admitted to the California Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in 1979, Butts has since been a formidable advocate for workers' rights.
