Good morning Emily, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Melanie Smith, and I am the VP External of the newly established Dalhousie Family Law Society at the Schulich School of Law. We formed this society to address the lack of discussion around family law at our law school and to provide valuable insights into this field for our fellow students. As a society, we are organizing a few events this semester addressing different sections of family law. A primary interest for a few of us on the DFLS is intimate partner violence. Our president, Alexi Grewal worked at Luke’s Place this past summer and the professionals working there recommended we connect with you because of the amazing work you do. We were wondering if you would be interested in presenting on this topic to our fellow students at the law school. We were thinking a tentative date of October 16th or October 23rd during our lunch hour, 12:30-1:30. We are planning to collab with The Dalhousie Feminist Law Association, another society here at Schulich for this event if you are interested.
