Peter's extensive expertise in legal matters and his formidable skills in advocacy significantly enhance our Class Action team's capabilities.

In 1994, Peter was officially accredited as a legal professional in Nova Scotia. This achievement followed his successful completion of a Law degree from Dalhousie University in 1993 and an undergraduate degree in Arts (Honors) from Queen’s University, attained in 1985.

His career, spanning nearly three decades, is marked by a focus on civil litigation. Peter has carved a niche for himself in appellate advocacy, showcasing his legal acumen across various court levels. His professional journey includes significant roles in both private and public sectors.

Peter is renowned for his compelling and effective representation in legal settings, embodying the true essence of a courtroom barrister. This recognition was formalized in 2014 when he was designated as Queen’s Counsel (now referred to as King’s Counsel) by the Attorney General of Nova Scotia. This prestigious title was awarded in recognition of his exceptional advocacy skills, as acknowledged by his peers and the judiciary.

Beyond his courtroom exploits, Peter has consistently contributed to the broader legal community. He has offered his expertise as a faculty member at the Schulich School of Law and as an author of Bar Admission materials. His role as a speaker at conferences and as a writer for legal journals further underscores his commitment to legal discourse. Since 2013, Peter has been an active participant in The Advocates’ Society, contributing as a teaching faculty member and serving on the Atlantic Regional Advisory Committee.

In terms of practical experience, Peter has demonstrated his prowess in various facets of Class Action law. He has skillfully handled Certification Motions, Motions to Stay individual actions, and has dealt with matters involving Disclosure and Discovery, assertions of privilege, and relief from the implied undertaking. As a lead counsel, he has overseen more than 200 application hearings, which include extensive and complex trials. His expertise extends to preparing and examining a wide array of witnesses, from clients and laypersons to experts.
