Kate Boyle

With a diverse background in representing plaintiffs across multiple legal domains, Kate's expertise extends to a wide range of class action lawsuits. Her involvement spans from pharmaceutical and product liability to toxic substance cases, alongside tackling issues of sexual misconduct, discrimination, and institutional abuse. Furthermore, her practice covers privacy violation cases, aviation mishaps, the handling of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities, tainted medical marijuana issues, Crown liability concerns, and environmental pollution and disasters.

Kate's professional journey in the legal field has led her to argue in several high-profile courts. Her appearances include arguing cases in front of the Supreme Court of Canada and various provincial courts, such as the Supreme Courts and Courts of Appeal of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Court of Queen’s Bench in New Brunswick.

Her legal prowess is further demonstrated in her role as counsel for victims grievously harmed by medical malpractice throughout the Maritimes. This role notably includes her involvement in birth trauma jury trials before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

Kate's academic achievements are rooted in her Halifax upbringing. She graduated from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015, distinguishing herself academically by making the Dean’s List and securing the Schulich Scholarship for her academic excellence and community engagement in 2012. Her academic journey was further enriched by a Schulich Internship Grant in 2013, and a stint as a student clerk at the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal in 2014. Kate's academic pursuits also included extensive research assistance for Dalhousie professors and a commitment to mentorship and tutoring roles. Her engagement with the community is evident through her volunteer work with refugee and ESL organizations, offering her skills in legal consultation, Spanish translation, and language instruction to new Canadians. Her initial foray into the legal profession began with a clerkship under the Honourable Justice Michael Manson at the Federal Court of Canada.
