Specializing in family law, Laura brings her expertise as a mediator and collaborative lawyer to the table, skillfully handling cases that span custody disputes, access issues, support, and the division of assets. Her passion lies in unraveling complex challenges, where she adopts a goal-driven methodology to craft innovative, economical solutions tailored to her clients' unique needs.

Laura's proficiency extends to deploying alternative dispute resolutions, effectively circumventing court involvement and fostering efficient resolutions. Her extensive training in interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice shines through as she adeptly orchestrates agreements for her clients within this framework.

In instances where legal action becomes imperative, Laura's prowess in litigation is evident. She represents her clients with tenacity, especially in high-conflict scenarios, drawing from her rich experience in courtrooms. Her legal journey has seen her advocating before various prestigious courts, including the Supreme Court and Provincial Court of both Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, as well as before the Registrar of Motor Vehicles and the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission in Prince Edward Island.

In addition to her hands-on legal work, Laura is deeply invested in the legal community. She presides as the Chair of the Family Law Section for the Canadian Bar Association in Nova Scotia. Her commitment to education is palpable as she imparts knowledge as a guest instructor for the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society Skills Course. Her previous role as president of the Nova Scotia Association of Collaborative Professionals and her current involvement in facilitating the Parent Information Program at the Supreme Court (Family Division) further underscore her dedication to the field.

Laura's academic journey underpins her professional acumen, with a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary’s University in 2006, followed by an LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School in 2009. Her legal acuity is licensed in both Prince Edward Island (since 2010) and Nova Scotia (since 2012), enabling her to serve a diverse clientele across these regions.
