Despite persistent rumors of her impending retirement, Mary Jane remains deeply invested in her profession. Nevertheless, she is gradually preparing for a serene future on the French Shore, where she already spends considerable time engrossed in case reading and brief writing. During winter, she often opts to work remotely from her residence in Sarasota, Florida, finding joy in her work that makes retirement an option to consider in the future, not a necessity at present.

Regarding her educational background, Mary Jane earned her LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School in 1983. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of New York, Stony Brook. Her admission to the Bar took place in Nova Scotia in 1984, marking the beginning of her long and diverse legal career.
