Leigh's career in the legal field commenced within the bustling environment of a major law firm situated in the downtown area, where she initially delved into labor law. Her journey in the legal arena took a pivotal turn when she developed a passion for maintaining personal connections amidst the intensity of legal conflicts. This realization steered her towards specializing in family law, mediation, and divorce law, culminating in her joining a boutique firm alongside Lynn and Angus at Reierson Schurman in 2007 – a move that proved to be immensely harmonious.
During her tenure with Reierson Schurman, Leigh's expertise flourished, leading her to establish Davis Reierson in 2010. Further expanding her professional horizons, she embraced a new role as counsel at MDW Law in January 2023.
Leigh's practice spans a diverse spectrum of family-related legal matters, where she advocates for clients across Nova Scotia. Her clientele extends beyond the provincial borders, including individuals residing in the United States and various other international locations.
Beyond her prowess in litigation, Leigh is also accomplished in alternative dispute resolution. She is a qualified mediator, arbitrator, and parenting coordinator, holding credentials as a Q. Med. (ADRIC) and an FDRP Med, Certified Specialist in Family Mediation (FDRIO). Her roles extend to serving as a Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia Labour Board and as an Adjudicator in the province's Small Claims Court.
Leigh's academic credentials are equally impressive. She earned her J.D. from Dalhousie Law School in 2002 and was inducted into the Nova Scotia Bar the following year. This was preceded by her attainment of a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University.
