Andrew Fortis

Andrew Fortis, one of the visionary founders of Hummingbird Lawyers LLP, spearheads the firm's Real Estate and Business Law divisions with unmatched dedication and expertise. His journey into law began with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from York University, followed by a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University’s Law School in 1999. That same year, Andrew was admitted to the New York State Bar, marking the beginning of an illustrious legal career. He later returned to his roots in Canada, joining the Ontario Bar in 2002.

Before establishing Hummingbird Lawyers LLP, Andrew honed his skills on Bay Street, laying the groundwork for what would become a flourishing legal practice. His passion for real estate law propelled him to pursue further education in the field, earning a Master of Laws in real estate from Osgoode Hall in 2011. The Law Society of Ontario recognized his expertise and dedication by designating him a Certified Specialist in Real Estate Law in 2016.

Andrew is deeply involved in the legal community, contributing as a tutor for the LSO Bar Admission Course in Real Estate and participating actively in the Ontario Bar Association’s Real Property Executive. His roles have varied from Secretary to Chair, and he is a sought-after speaker, sharing his knowledge through various platforms including the Law Society of Ontario and the Stewart Title Insurance Lecture Series. His reputation as a real estate expert is so esteemed that the Superior Court of Justice has recognized him as such.
