Richard Gregor

Richard MacGregor excels in handling a wide spectrum of construction and commercial litigation, offering expertise in everything from construction liens and contract breaches to shareholder oppression and commercial lease disputes. His approach prioritizes swift, accurate legal counsel, ensuring his clients' interests are effectively safeguarded. Richard firmly believes in the importance of early legal intervention as a means to streamline dispute resolution.

His legal practice spans:

- Commercial Litigation: Including contract breaches, warranty issues, commercial leases, shareholder oppression, professional negligence, and liability claims;

- Construction Litigation: Covering construction lien actions, deficiency claims, warranty issues, breach of trust actions, and bond claims;

- Condominium Litigation: Focusing on disputes over first-year deficits, deficiencies, shared facilities, and management negligence.

Richard's insights have been shared at various conferences, notably discussing the defense of a complex police negligence case at the 24th Annual Provincial/Municipal Government Liability Conference.

Before his tenure at Miller Thomson LLP, Richard contributed his skills to a full-service firm in Hamilton, Ontario, representing a wide range of clients within the Greater Toronto Area, including businesses, developers, and contractors.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Richard actively supports CARE Canada and contributes to his community as an umpire for minor baseball leagues across southwestern Ontario.

Among his notable cases, Richard successfully defended a complex police negligence claim in Painter v. Richardson, and navigated the defense of an appeal in Cowan v. General Filters Inc. His expertise has also led to successes in striking jury notices, securing interlocutory injunctions in lease disputes, and resolving construction and real estate related disputes.

Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2014, Richard's foundation in law was built at the University of Windsor, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 2013.
