More Information:

Martin Prost, with a rich educational background including a B.A., LL.B, and M.Ed from McMaster University and the University of Western Ontario, has been a stalwart in the legal field since his admission to the bar in 1974. Choosing Midland as his base, Martin's legal practice initially spanned various domains, but he soon found his passion in family law and conflict resolution. His journey into law began uniquely, rooted in the values of hard work and pragmatism learned on a farm in what is now East Hamilton.

Prost's career took a significant turn post-high school, leading him from studying Classics at McMaster to embracing the complexities of law at the University of Western Ontario. Early into his career, his knack for addressing personal conflicts led him towards family law, where he began to explore deeper into the nuances of mediation and conflict resolution.

His dedication to resolving conflicts took him across North America, from a relational mediation course in California in 1981 to advanced studies in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the University of Windsor, and further training in Divorce and Child Custody Mediation in Boulder, Colorado. These experiences not only enhanced his skills but also shaped his approach towards legal disputes, emphasizing restoration over punishment.

In 1998, Martin's commitment to community healing led him to establish the FACE Program, a pioneering initiative in Midland that diverted young offenders from the court system into restorative justice circles. This program, a testament to his belief in conflict as a catalyst for growth, involved key community figures and aimed at mending the rifts between victims, offenders, and the community through dialogue and understanding.

Martin Prost's legal acumen spans several areas, including corporate services, litigation, and real estate, yet his true distinction lies in mediation and family law. His work is anchored in the belief that conflict, when approached as an opportunity for dialogue and reconciliation, can be a powerful vehicle for personal and communal transformation. Now part of Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF) due to a firm merger in 2022, Martin continues to apply his deep-seated values and expertise to serve the Midland community and beyond. His approach to law transcends traditional practices, advocating for solutions that foster healing and growth for all involved.
