Jonah Waxman

In 2012, after completing his legal studies, Jonah Waxman was formally admitted to the Ontario bar, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in law. With a Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law obtained in 2011, and a Bachelor of Arts from Western University in 2008, Jonah was well-prepared for the challenges ahead. He is an active member of several prestigious legal organizations, including the Law Society of Ontario, The Advocates' Society, and the Ontario Bar Association, reflecting his deep commitment to the legal profession.

Currently serving as a Partner at WeirFoulds LLP in the Wills, Trusts & Estates Practice Group, Jonah has significantly contributed to the field. His journey in law started at a well-respected firm where he handled a broad spectrum of litigation cases. These ranged from estate and guardianship disputes to complex issues like oppression claims and aborted real estate transactions. Jonah's ability to manage such a diverse caseload speaks volumes about his versatility and depth of understanding.

Jonah's courtroom experience is extensive and impressive. He has confidently represented clients in high-stakes matters before the Ontario Court of Appeal, Divisional Court of Justice, and Superior Court of Justice, showcasing his adeptness in both motion and application proceedings. His courtroom skills extend to conducting trials spanning several weeks, engaging with both judges and juries, and navigating the intricacies of various administrative tribunals.

His prowess in litigation has also led Jonah to share his knowledge through mock trial demonstrations and advocacy seminars. These events, organized by bodies such as the Canadian Bar Association and Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, benefit from his insights and experiences.

Beyond the courtroom, Jonah is deeply involved in mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. He volunteers for several initiatives, including supervising and judging moot court competitions at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law. His dedication to nurturing budding lawyers also sees him instructing at the Law Practice Program (LPP) for trial advocacy and serving as examining counsel for the University of Toronto Mississauga's Capstone program.
