Before embarking on his legal career, Evan Clemence was distinguished by prestigious awards, securing the Anne Marjorie Beer Scholarship and the High North Scholarship at the University of Toronto. These accolades enabled him to delve into human rights and indigenous peoples' rights in Tromsø, Norway, laying a profound foundation for his future endeavors.
Following his graduation in 2012 with a Juris Doctor, Evan pivoted towards specializing in Family Law. His expertise now encompasses tackling sensitive issues like domestic violence. Evan's journey through the legal landscape also includes a tenure in Criminal Law as a Per Diem Lawyer for the Durham Crown Attorney’s Office, alongside engaging in civil litigation cases before fully dedicating himself to Family Law.
Evan's contributions extend beyond his legal practice. He led the Ontario Bar Association’s Official Languages Committee and actively participated in COFRD (Conseil des Organismes Francophones de la Région de Durham) as well as the Executive Committee of Station Gallery in Whitby, Ontario. His involvement in the Durham Region Law Association’s Best Practices Committee under Justice Paul Nicholson's chairmanship was pivotal in formulating Child Protection policies for the Oshawa Courthouse.
Fluent in both of Canada's official languages, Evan's bilingualism reflects his commitment to serving a diverse clientele. His passion for the arts is another facet of his multifaceted personality. Evan hosts a jazz radio program on Toronto's francophone station Choq FM and dedicates his leisure to playing classical music on the piano, showcasing his artistic talents and broadening his connection with the community.
