Elisabeth Colson

Elisabeth Colson, with dual honors in Political Science from McGill University and a law degree from Universite de Montreal, has carved out a distinguished career in law since her admission to the bar in 1996. Residing in Toronto, she excels in various legal realms, including business, corporate services, dental practice, franchise law, as well as serving not-for-profits and charities. Her affiliations with the Quebec Bar Association, Law Society of Ontario, and Canadian Bar Association underline her esteemed position in the legal community.

As a co-managing partner and leader of the Corporate Commercial Department at her firm, Elisabeth's command of both English and French enhances her effectiveness. Her background is as diverse as it is impressive, spanning private practice and in-house roles across Canada and internationally. Her expertise covers a broad spectrum of business law areas such as corporate and commercial issues, franchising, intellectual property, and more.

Elisabeth's journey in law has seen her as general counsel for a venture capital entity, Vice-President of Legal Affairs for an international franchise operation, and in-house legal advisor for various acquired companies. Before her current role, she served a global reinsurance company, managing corporate governance and compliance across different regions while focusing on risk assessment and management.

Her practice today revolves around offering sage advice on corporate and commercial matters, including the drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements, corporate structuring and restructuring, and the intricacies of franchising and intellectual property laws, among others.

Moreover, Elisabeth's commitment extends beyond her professional duties. She actively participates in the broader community, holding positions such as Co-Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee of Baycrest, membership on the Business Advisory Committee of Baycrest’s The Kimel Family Centre for Brain Health & Wellness, and directorship at Alpaca Ontario. Her past involvement with the One Life Gala Committee in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation showcases her dedication to making a difference.
