Starting with her academic foundations, Alison emerged from the University of Guelph in 2002, equipped with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During her time at Queen's, Alison wasn't just another student; she immersed herself in volunteer work with the John Howard Society, ultimately serving as its Vice President of the Board of Directors. Kingston, Ontario, became the backdrop for Alison's initial foray into legal practice. Here, she honed her skills at the Correctional Law Project, a clinic affiliated with Queen's University. Alison continues to represent clients across Ontario, showcasing her unwavering commitment to justice.

Alison's professional trajectory took a significant turn in 2005 when she joined Lockyer Campbell Posner as an articling student. Her talent and dedication did not go unnoticed, as she quickly rose through the ranks to become an associate in 2006, eventually being made a partner in 2011. Her expertise and leadership skills led her to co-found Posner Craig Stein, further cementing her status in the legal community.

One of Alison's most notable contributions to the field was her representation of nine individuals during the Inquiry into Pediatric Forensic Pathology in Ontario between 2007 and 2008. This work was pivotal in challenging the convictions based on flawed pathology work, leading to several convictions being quashed, showcasing her dedication to rectifying miscarriages of justice.
