Tanya Walker

In 2005, Tanya Walker graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University with a law degree and had previously earned her Honours Bachelor of Commerce, alongside a minor in Economics from McMaster University in 2003. Just a year after her graduation, the Ontario Bar welcomed her into its ranks in 2006. Her career has been marked by notable achievements, including her role as a Bencher for the Law Society of Ontario, where she has been re-elected for her third term. Her election in 2016 broke new ground as she became the first black woman elected as a Bencher from Toronto in the institution's 226-year history, also distinguishing herself as one of its youngest members at the time. Her peers showed their continued trust in her vision and capabilities by re-electing her in 2019 and again in 2023.

Tanya's commitment extends beyond the courtroom to various community engagements. She actively participates in the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and contributes her insights on legal matters as a regular guest on the CTV Show, Your Morning, serving as a legal analyst. Her expertise in Corporate/Commercial Litigation has not only earned her a spot in the 2017 and 2018 Lexpert Guides as a Leading Lawyer to Watch but also the 2018 Women’s Business Enterprise of the Year Award.
