Gillian Howe

Gillian, serving as a partner in the Employment & Labour Group, brings expertise in advising both unionized and non-unionized employers. Her clientele spans diverse sectors, including both the private and public spheres.

She tackles a wide array of labour and employment challenges for employers, from wrongful or constructive dismissal cases, addressing human rights concerns, to navigating grievance arbitrations and labour board hearings. Gillian excels in guiding employers through the intricacies of workplace dilemmas, offering both strategic and actionable solutions. Her experience covers essential workplace and HR issues, including but not limited to employee accommodations, managing attendance, tackling workplace violence and harassment, ensuring health and safety, dealing with employment misconduct and discipline, conducting investigations, overseeing hiring and terminations, and interpreting collective agreements.

Moreover, Gillian's role extends to providing vital labour and employment insights during corporate deals, crafting and evaluating employment contracts, formulating workplace policies, and aiding employers in fulfilling their legal duties under various employment laws.

Gillian's professional journey is distinguished by her admission to the Ontario Bar in 2015, following her completion of a JD at the University of Western Ontario in 2014, and a BMOS from the same institution in 2011, where she was awarded the Bohuslav Kymlicka Gold Medal.
