Cenobar Parker

Unfortunately Cenobar took on my case involving both my employer and union where I felt I was treated unfairly by both, and provided me with what would turn out to be poor and costly legal advice she recommended while providing drawbacks for legal advice she would in fact be permitted to follow through on as a lawyer from the very outset and without issue. The advice she recommended as a first step to resolve the matter so as not to lose my job (a demand letter to my employer) would have her profit from me financially and provide me with no results as a vulnerable employee already in distress. Nothing came of the costly letter as my employer was not obligated to follow it, stating my union is my sole representation as per the collective agreement in place. Cenobar reviewed all document evidence involving my case, including my union’s collective agreement prior to sending the demand letter to my employer. Upon my employer reaching out to her with their response, Cenobar replied to them stating that if they didn't communicate with her outright with respect to the demand letter, that I would proceed to the next step as indicated in the letter, having her further fail to understand and accept her limitations as a lawyer in this particular case. I also felt that she overstepped her boundaries by not discussing my employer’s response with me prior to responding to them. These were e-mail communications that I hadn't been made privy to until I asked for her for them. In my opinion she had made an unjustifiable threat to my employer by forcing them to communicate with her outright and on my behalf, increasing tensions between my employer and myself. My employer remained unresponsive to the demands of the letter.

Overall, I felt that Cenobar wasn’t open to listening to my concerns as a client or considering my experiences as an employee. Her legal fees that amounted to several thousand dollars were paid in full and on time, however upon issuing the demand letter to my employer and then receiving and replying to my employer’s response to the demand letter, she ended our retainer agreement for reasons that in my opinion were not valid and ignorant of important concerns that I expressed involving my case, including new information that was brought to light. I also felt that she didn’t give me reasonable notice as a client when she chose to end the retainer agreement and was left without a lawyer at a critical juncture, causing further distress and confusion. I should also include that Cenobar lost a physical copy of an important evidence record that was never recovered. Overall I found Cenobar had difficulty respecting my point of view and concerns as a client. She was also proven wrong on additional information she provided involving my union and her perceived ability to intervene as a lawyer and my inability to step in and work with my union on that specific matter. Had I listened to her I’d be out an additional couple of thousand dollars more at her request and maybe more to further top the retainer for something that I was able to do myself for free. Based on my client experience with Cenobar, I feel she is unfit to assist unionized employees. I walked away feeling robbed of my hard-earned money as a result of her poor legal advice. My advice would be to avoid this lawyer if you are a unionized employee seeking external help and not allow her to do the same to you. I have given Cenobar Parker 1 star because she can talk a good game!
