Since obtaining my law degrees from both American and Canadian institutions in 2006, my journey into family law began shortly after, with my bar admission in 2007. It's a path that fills me with gratitude daily, as I'm entrusted with guiding individuals through significant life changes. Witnessing clients emerge from crisis to find a new sense of wholeness is profoundly rewarding.
My upbringing on Canada's East Coast instilled in me the value of seeing individuals beyond their cases. Honesty, integrity, and fairness are principles I live by, especially in the practice of family law. The intimate nature of the matters we handle demands a relationship built on trust, where clients feel free to share openly. This foundational honesty enables informed decisions, with me advocating tirelessly for their best interests.
I find particular fulfillment in navigating high-conflict parenting cases, including those compounded by mental health and addiction challenges. My aim is always to introduce a sense of calm and order during these tumultuous times.
Although I always prefer resolution methods like mediation, collaborative law, and negotiation, I recognize that court intervention is sometimes inevitable. Not all parties are willing to cooperate, necessitating a strong advocate who can navigate the court system effectively. With experience at all levels of Court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal, I'm prepared to represent clients vigorously, exploring all avenues like arbitration to secure their interests.
Over the years, my practice has evolved across several law firms in Toronto. Starting at Polak McKay & Hawkshaw just after my bar admission, I moved to Devry Smith Frank LLP, where I deepened my expertise in family law and litigation. Currently, as a Partner at Stanchieri Family Law, I continue to dedicate myself to family law, a field I've been passionately involved in for nearly six years.
My education, including my time at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, laid a solid foundation for my career. Beyond my professional endeavors, I've committed time to volunteering with organizations like the Teen Legal Helpline and participating in the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario's annual conference committee, further enriching my understanding and compassion in family law.
As a Certified Collaborative Practitioner, I advocate for resolutions that respect everyone's dignity, always aiming to exceed the expectations of those I represent. If you're facing family law challenges and seek a consultation, my practice is built on a commitment to your peace of mind and well-being.
