Charles Skipper

Charles embarked on his legal journey at Queen’s University, Kingston, where he earned his law degree in 1989. Following an articling period with the Ministry of Attorney General, he ventured into commercial litigation at a premier law firm in Toronto before joining Fogler, Rubinoff LLP in 1996. There, he has become a guiding light for clients navigating the intricate world of construction and commercial disagreements.

His legal expertise spans a wide array of fields, including construction and commercial disputes, with a notable focus on construction liens, building contracts, professional liability, and more. Charles also brings his knowledge to bear on estate litigation, insolvency issues, and shareholder disputes, adept at navigating both the Federal Court of Canada and Tax Court.

In 1998, Charles deepened his specialization in construction litigation with a Master’s Degree in Law from Osgoode Hall, York University. His commitment to excellence in client service was further enhanced by negotiation training at Harvard Law School in 2000, specifically aimed at supporting the construction industry’s business owners, contractors, and suppliers.

An engaged member of the construction community, Charles has contributed extensively to the Toronto Construction Association and the Ontario General Contractors Association, sharing his insights through papers and seminars.

His role extends into estates and trusts, where he has represented institutions, trustees, and beneficiaries, tackling complex estate litigation and administration issues.

While Charles is experienced in various legal proceedings, he champions a philosophy that prioritizes resolving disputes outside of court to spare clients the expense and stress of litigation.

A testament to his dedication to construction law is his unique collection of hard hats, symbolic of his involvement with many of Ontario's key construction entities.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Charles is a devoted father and an active community member. He has been recognized as “Big Brother of the Year” for Metropolitan Toronto and has contributed significantly to the Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club, earning him a Community Service Award.

With admissions to the Ontario Bar in 1992 and memberships in several legal associations, Charles is widely respected in his field, earning accolades such as being named in The Best Lawyers™ in Canada for Construction Law.
