Ian Katchin

Ian has made a name for himself as a Partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group and serves as the Chair of the Litigation Department at Fogler, Rubinoff LLP. His legal prowess spans a wide array of practice areas, notably excelling in commercial litigation, construction disputes, estate litigation, employment issues, and a suite of other complex litigation areas.

With a career marked by representing a broad spectrum of clients, including lawyers, law firms, politicians, individuals, and corporate entities, Ian's expertise covers shareholder and partnership disputes, insurance matters, professional negligence, and more. His role has seen him navigate high-stakes litigation across various levels of Ontario's courts and numerous tribunals, showcasing his versatility and depth of legal knowledge.

Before his tenure at Fogler, Rubinoff LLP, Ian sharpened his litigation skills in the Waterloo office of a national firm, demonstrating his capacity for handling both commercial and insurance litigation matters. His significant contributions to landmark cases in the Court of Appeal for Ontario highlight his ability as a leading litigator.

Ian is deeply committed to legal education, having shared his knowledge as a Sessional Instructor and Adjunct Professor, focusing on Commercial Law at the University of Windsor – Faculty of Law and Osgoode Hall Law School.
