Matthew Rutledge

Matthew has joined the ranks as an associate in the litigation and dispute resolution team, where he is carving a niche in corporate and commercial litigation, with a keen emphasis on municipal and planning law.

Earning his BSc from McMaster University and later his J.D. from the University of New Brunswick, where he was honored with the Townsend Fischer Prize for excellence in Real Estate Transactions, Matthew has shown a consistent trajectory towards legal excellence. Before his formal admission to the bar, he gained invaluable experience at Foglers through summer and articling positions.

His law school tenure was marked by significant involvement in volunteer work with Pro Bono Students Canada and leadership in student advocacy groups, showcasing his commitment to legal aid and community service. Notably, Matthew led the Advocacy Committee for the Students for the Wrongfully Convicted Society and played a crucial role in OutLaw UNB.

Outside the courtroom, Matthew has a passion for competitive swimming, enjoys quality time with his dog on walks, and has a penchant for discovering new culinary experiences.

Having been called to the Ontario Bar in 2021, Matthew's expertise spans a range of practice areas including administrative and regulatory matters, judicial reviews and appeals, and municipal and planning law, positioning him as a promising figure in his field.
