Matthew Rebus

Matthew Rebus plays a pivotal role at Fasken, contributing his expertise to the Business Law group. His work spans across a myriad of corporate and securities law areas, where he provides invaluable advice to both public and private entities. Matthew's guidance is sought in transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and matters of corporate governance. He also dedicates a significant portion of his practice to supporting high-growth and startup ventures through their developmental phases, advising on formation, governance, commercial contracts, and funding strategies.

Matthew's educational journey is notable, with a completion of a dual degree in law and business from the University of Western Ontario, where he also engaged in an international exchange at the National University of Singapore. His academic tenure included working as a research associate for Professor Richard McLaren O.C., alongside gaining practical experience in legal and investment banking analysis at GFI Capital Partners in London, England.

Before officially joining Fasken as an associate in 2021, Matthew gained initial exposure to the firm through summer and articling positions. Additionally, he was seconded to Coinsquare, further broadening his professional experience.

Matthew's commitment to his field is reflected in his memberships with the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association, marking his ongoing dedication to the legal profession since 2021. His background, coupled with his active engagement in professional associations, underscores Matthew's deep-rooted commitment to excellence in the sphere of business law.
