Michel Lederman

Michel Lederman holds the pivotal role of Co-Director, Legal Talent at Goodmans, where she, alongside Ali Richardson, orchestrates the firm's initiatives aimed at nurturing and managing legal professionals. Together, they helm the comprehensive programs for students, associates, and law clerks that span recruitment, mentorship, professional development, career progression, and performance evaluation.

Beyond these core responsibilities, Michel actively contributes to several other firm-wide endeavors. Her involvement significantly extends into areas such as fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, enhancing mentorship opportunities, and focusing on the retention of talent. Before ascending to her current leadership position, Michel gained substantial experience in litigation at Goodmans as an associate, after completing her articling period there. Her academic credentials are impressive, with a B.A. from York University and an LL.B. from Osgoode Law School, culminating in her admission to the Ontario Bar in 2011.

Michel's commitment to the legal profession and broader community is evident through her active participation in various volunteer activities. She plays a crucial role as a Co-Facilitator for the Girls Empowerment Program at Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto, directly impacting young lives through empowerment initiatives. Additionally, Michel dedicates her time to Hand Up Toronto, contributing to the distribution of essential grocery care packages to families throughout the city. Her drive to ensure access to justice is further demonstrated by her provision of summary legal advice to low-income Ontarians via Pro Bono Ontario’s Free Legal Advice Hotline.

Michel's educational journey is marked by notable achievements, including her placement on the Dean's List at Osgoode Hall Law School and graduating with Distinction from York University. Her professional affiliations with the Law Society of Ontario and The Advocates' Society underscore her standing and commitment within the legal community. Her licensure in Ontario in 2011 was a significant milestone in a career that has since been characterized by leadership, advocacy, and community service.
