David Salter plays a pivotal role at Lenczner Slaght as an associate, where his expertise in civil litigation encompasses complex commercial disputes, investigatory cases, employment conflicts, and public law issues. He has skillfully represented a variety of clients, from top-tier global financial institutions and corporations to public figures and high-profile political personalities. Particularly notable is his representation of senior executives in employment-related matters. Additionally, David enriches legal education as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

Before joining Lenczner Slaght, David brought his legal expertise to the New York branch of a prominent international law firm, serving as litigation counsel to several Fortune 500 companies over a span of five years. His diverse legal background also includes a stint as Acting Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, New York, and an appointment as mediation counsel for self-represented litigants by the Southern District of New York's federal court. His commitment to pro bono work has been recognized multiple times by the New York State Bar Association.

David's legal education was completed at the University of Toronto, graduating with honors and earning several awards for academic excellence, including the Laskin Prize in Constitutional Law.

Before venturing into law, David's career was marked by significant contributions to the Government of Ontario, holding positions such as director of communications to the Minister of Energy and press secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation. Additionally, he dedicated nearly nine years to the Canadian Armed Forces as a Reservist.

His legal acumen spans appeals, arbitration, commercial litigation, employment law, insolvency and restructuring, investigations, public law, and securities litigation. David's bar admissions include New York in 2017 and Ontario in 2020. His educational background is complemented by a JD with Honors from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law (2016), a BA with Distinction in History & Politics from Queen's University (2008), and an OsgoodePD Advanced Certificate in Workplace Investigations from Osgoode Hall Law School (2023).
