James Klotz

James Klotz, a distinguished member of Miller Thomson LLP's Business Law Group in Toronto, brings a wealth of experience in International Business Transactions and Anti-Corruption & International Governance. His leadership extended globally as he served as the Secretary-General of the International Bar Association (IBA), concluding his term in 2018, and was later appointed as the IBA Vice-President until March 2020. Klotz’s expertise in governance and compliance was recognized through his role with FIFA's Independent Governance Committee from 2011 to 2014. His contributions to international law have been acknowledged widely, exemplified by his inclusion in Canada’s Best Lawyers 2023 and receiving the Ontario Bar Association's Award of Excellence in International Law in 2012.

Klotz's global influence is further highlighted by his involvement with the Allard Prize Advisory Board and his tenure as the past-President of Transparency International Canada Inc. His leadership in drafting international legal standards with the IBA underscores his commitment to enhancing the legal profession’s integrity worldwide.

An alumnus of Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Klotz has also shared his knowledge as an educator in International Business Law. His directorship credentials were solidified with an ICD.D. designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2008.
