Sukaina Afzal

Sukaina brings a wealth of expertise to her role, specializing in guiding clients through complex capital market dealings, including both public and private funding endeavors, alongside key mergers and acquisitions. Her counsel extends to corporate governance and ensuring clients meet their obligations under securities regulations, particularly for those with public listings.

Before her current position, Sukaina gained valuable experience as a summer student at Blakes, eventually joining the firm as an articling student in the 2019/2020 term.

Assisted Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd., which runs the Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia, in a monumental C$4.3 billion privatization deal by its major shareholder, Rio Tinto plc.

Played a role in the US$2 billion acquisition of Score Media and Gaming, Inc. by Penn National Gaming, Inc., marking a significant expansion in digital sports content, gaming, and technology across North America.

Supported Open Text Corporation with its US$1 billion secured notes offering across borders.

Contributed to dentalcorp Holdings Ltd.'s C$700 million IPO and a simultaneous C$250 million private placement, amassing C$950 million in total proceeds.
