Julia Bassett

Julia Bassett, since joining our Toronto legal team in 2013 as a summer intern and later as an articling student throughout 2014-2015, has become an integral part of our employment and labour division. Her foray into law has seen her delve into myriad facets of employment and labour law, tackling everything from employment standards and human rights issues to navigating the complexities of wrongful dismissal and labour arbitrations. Her expertise also extends to the nuanced areas of occupational health and safety and disability benefits related claims, showcasing her versatility and dedication to the field.

Her journey in law began with a strong academic foundation, earning her J.D. from Western University in 2014 after completing her undergraduate studies with honours at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2010. Julia's time in law school was marked not just by her academic pursuits but also by her commitment to research, which was recognized with the Borden Ladner Gervais LLP Research Fellowship in May 2012. This passion for research was evident in her role as a research assistant, where she honed her skills and deepened her legal knowledge.

Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Julia's commitment to the legal community and beyond is demonstrated through her active involvement in volunteer work, particularly with Pro Bono Students Canada, where she contributed her skills and time to those in need. Her dedication to the legal profession is further highlighted by her memberships in prestigious legal associations, including the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Law Society of Upper Canada, following her admission to the Ontario bar in 2015.
