Nicole Buchanan

Nicole Buchanan stands out as a comprehensive expert in employment and labour law, with her practice encompassing a wide array of critical areas such as compliance with employment standards, championing human rights, navigating labour relations, ensuring occupational health and safety, and addressing wrongful dismissal cases.

Her journey with our firm began in the summer of 2015 when she joined the Toronto office as a summer student. Nicole's dedication and prowess in the field were evident, leading her to return for her articles between 2016 and 2017, during which she undertook a significant secondment at the Royal Bank of Canada. This experience allowed her to apply her legal knowledge in a practical, corporate environment, enhancing her understanding of the intersection between law and business.

Before embarking on her legal career, Nicole's path was uniquely shaped by her background in civil engineering. After completing her Bachelor of Science with Honours at the University of Waterloo in 2013, she applied her engineering skills in the real world, working for a general contracting construction company. This experience provided her with a solid foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving, skills that have proved invaluable in her legal practice.

Her law school years were marked by active engagement in advocacy and moot competitions, notably her participation in the Hicks Morley Moot Competition, where she represented her law faculty with distinction. These experiences honed her advocacy and litigation skills, preparing her for the challenges of legal practice.

Nicole's academic and professional journey culminated in her obtaining a Juris Doctor from Western University in 2016, followed by her admission to the Ontario bar in 2017. Her commitment to the legal profession and its development is further evidenced by her active membership in the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
