Haiya Peng

Haiya Peng, a key associate within our Toronto-based Business Law Group, specializes in navigating the intricate worlds of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and general corporate affairs. Her adept handling of significant transactions has solidified her reputation as a go-to expert in these areas.

Haiya's legal acumen has been instrumental in facilitating major deals, such as guiding Corus Entertainment through the strategic divestiture of its Toon Boom software subsidiary to Integrated Media Company, and steering MPM BioImpact in its notable acquisition of Reunion Neuroscience Inc. Her role in the monumental C$5.9 billion acquisition of Summit Industrial Income REIT by a JV between GIC and Dream Industrial REIT further exemplifies her capacity to manage high-stakes transactions.

Her educational journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, followed by a Master of Applied Science from the University of British Columbia, culminating in a JD from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia in 2018. Throughout her academic career, Haiya distinguished herself through various individual course prizes and dedicated volunteer work with the Law Students Legal Advice Program.

Since being called to the Ontario Bar in 2019, Haiya has continued to demonstrate her commitment to the legal profession as a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association.

Her involvement in the acquisition of Summit Industrial Income REIT by a JV between Dream Industrial REIT and GIC for C$5.9B showcases her ability to facilitate significant real estate transactions.
