Jonathan Nehmetallah

Jonathan Nehmetallah stands out as a relatable and efficient problem-solver, uniquely skilled in navigating the complexities of various disputes across multiple industries. His approach to litigation is characterized by a keen understanding of different perspectives, enabling him to secure swift and favorable outcomes for his clients.

As an integral member of McCarthy Tetrault’s Litigation Group in Toronto, Jonathan applies his diverse skill set to areas such as corporate and commercial litigation, municipal and land use, professional liability, and regulatory and compliance issues. His experience spans appearances before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, and the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, as well as engagements with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

Jonathan's ability to represent clients on both sides of legal disputes offers a comprehensive view of legal challenges, enhancing his capacity to advocate effectively for his clients. His experience includes acting for both defendants and class plaintiffs in class action lawsuits, defending against regulatory charges, and serving as a prosecutor for environmental offences under the Conservation Authorities Act for various Conservation Authorities.

In addition to his legal practice, Jonathan contributes to the legal community as a Sessional Instructor at the University of Windsor, where he equips aspiring lawyers with a foundational understanding of Canadian law and the legal system.

Jonathan's academic credentials include a law degree from Queen’s University, where he distinguished himself as a top oralist at the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria. He also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Windsor.

Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2017, Jonathan has shared his insights on topics such as adverse possession, public parks, and the evolving landscape of ESG and sustainability through various publications. His contributions to discussions on securities litigation trends and regulatory risk mitigation strategies further underscore his thought leadership and commitment to legal excellence.
