Kara Smith

Kara Smith, serving as counsel in the Litigation Group in Toronto, brings a broad spectrum of expertise to her practice, focusing on areas such as professional negligence, health law, administrative law, and privacy. Her work primarily involves defending medical professionals in both civil litigation and disciplinary proceedings, representing them in front of various legal and regulatory bodies, including the courts and the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario.

Additionally, Kara is adept at navigating the complexities of privacy law, providing counsel on breaches, access rights, and information requests, and has represented parties before the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

Kara’s academic background is equally impressive, with an Honours B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Lakehead University, where she was honored with the President’s Graduation Award. She went on to earn her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was recognized for her leadership and dedication to public service.

Her professional affiliations include the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association. Beyond her legal practice, Kara is committed to her community, serving on the Board of Directors for the East Toronto Community Legal Services.
