Saneea Tanvir

Saneea Tanvir, a distinguished associate within both the Litigation Group and Bankruptcy & Restructuring Group in Toronto, is celebrated for her pragmatic and goal-oriented approach. Her legal practice is deeply rooted in commercial insolvency, restructuring, bankruptcy, and commercial litigation, where she consistently delivers effective solutions for her clientele.

With a wealth of experience under her belt, Saneea has adeptly represented a wide array of clients including creditors, debtors, and court-appointed officers across receiverships, bankruptcies, and corporate restructuring cases. Her regular appearances before both the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) and the Bankruptcy Court in Toronto underscore her proficiency and commitment to her field.

Before her current position at McCarthy Tétrault, Saneea contributed her expertise to a prominent multi-practice law firm in Toronto, specializing in insolvency and restructuring. This experience further solidified her standing as a knowledgeable and reliable legal adviser.

Saneea's legal education was completed at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was not only a dedicated student but also an active participant in the Osgoode Business Clinic, showcasing her early commitment to legal practice and community service. Her academic journey began with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in Political Science and Ethics, Society, and Law from the University of Toronto, laying a solid foundation for her legal career.

Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2019, Saneea has been an active member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, and the Toronto Lawyers Association. Her leadership extends to serving on the Board of Directors of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and the Executive Board of the OBA’s Insolvency Law Section. Furthermore, her dedication to mentorship is evident through her involvement with the MAX/Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association mentorship program.

Saneea's contributions to her field have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by her receipt of the Rising Star Award from the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation in 2023.
