Sharanya Thavakumaran

Sharanya Thavakumaran has quickly established herself as a dynamic associate within Toronto's Litigation Group, showcasing her prowess in litigation and dispute resolution. Graduating with a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2018, where she was honored with the prestigious Class of 1972 Award, Sharanya's law school tenure was marked by notable achievements. Her active participation in advocacy competitions, including the Davies’ Corporate/Securities Moot and the Cassels Brock Cup, highlights her exceptional skills in legal argumentation and strategy. Notably, she was also a finalist in the Hicks Morley Moot and clinched first place in the Torys Cup, underscoring her aptitude for legal discourse and analysis.

Sharanya's dedication to legal service was evident early on, as demonstrated by her volunteer work with Pro Bono Law Ontario, where she contributed as an intake worker, further refining her skills in client interaction and legal assistance.

Before embarking on her legal education, Sharanya pursued a BA in Political Science with a minor in Law and Society from the University of British Columbia in 2013, laying a solid foundation for her career in law with a broad understanding of political and legal systems.

In 2019, Sharanya's transition into the legal profession was marked by her admission to the Ontario Bar.
