Victor Choi

Victor Choi serves as an invaluable member of our Real Property and Planning Group in Toronto, where he dedicates his expertise to a wide-ranging commercial real estate practice. Before embarking on his legal journey, Victor had a distinguished tenure in the Canadian Armed Forces, contributing significantly to Canada's efforts both at home and overseas. Notably, his commitment took him to Afghanistan in 2010, marking a period of active engagement in critical missions.

While serving in the military, Victor pursued his academic interests, achieving a B.A. (Honours) in Political Science from York University. This period of his life was characterized by a balance between his dedication to national service and his commitment to higher education, demonstrating remarkable discipline and determination.

Following his retirement from active duty, Victor turned his focus to the legal profession, securing his J.D. from Queen's University's Faculty of Law in 2019. During his law studies, Victor was particularly drawn to offering his skills to the community, engaging in pro bono work with Queen's Legal Aid and the Queen's Business Law Clinic. His efforts were primarily directed towards providing essential legal guidance to local small businesses, particularly in areas like commercial leasing and contract reviews, where his practical advice was highly valued.

In 2020, Victor was officially called to the Ontario Bar, becoming a member of the Law Society of Ontario and beginning his professional legal career in earnest. His involvement in high-profile transactions, such as the acquisition of Conestoga Mall in Waterloo by Primaris Real Estate Investment Trust from Ivanhoé Cambridge for C$270M, showcases his capability to navigate complex real estate deals. Additionally, his work on distressed transactions, including Antarctica Capital LLC's acquisition of assets and subsidiaries of Urthecast following its CCAA filing, further demonstrates his adaptability and proficiency in handling intricate legal challenges.
