Carlos Martins

Carlos Martins, a Partner at WeirFoulds, brings over two decades of rich legal expertise to the table, specializing in aviation and defamation law. After completing his LL.B. at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in 1994, and his undergraduate degree in Public Administration from Carleton University in 1991, Carlos embarked on a legal career that has seen him provide counsel across various sectors.

A notable figure in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group since 2020, Carlos has a storied background that includes co-founding Bersenas Jacobsen Chouest Thomson Blackburn LLP. His proficiency in litigation is evident from his extensive experience advocating for clients across all judicial levels in Ontario, up to the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before numerous administrative tribunals.

Carlos's contributions to the legal field extend beyond the courtroom. He is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada and has shared his knowledge as a lecturer to the Insurance Institute of Ontario. His authorship includes the “Canada” chapter in the prestigious International Insurance Law and Regulation published by Oxford University Press, showcasing his expertise on a global scale.
