Denise Gan, serving as the assistant general counsel, plays a pivotal role in navigating the legal landscape for our firm, offering guidance on an array of issues while also contributing to the management of internal initiatives. Her career trajectory is marked by a strong foundation in corporate and commercial law, particularly within the domains of banking, finance, and projects related to construction and infrastructure. Denise's expertise extends to advising on a broad spectrum of corporate, regulatory, and commercial matters.

Her journey with our firm began in 2013 as a summer student, and she quickly demonstrated her commitment and prowess by returning the next year to undertake her articles. During this period, Denise gained invaluable experience through a secondment at the Royal Bank of Canada, further honing her skills in the financial sector. Her academic tenure was equally impressive, highlighted by her contributions to the Windsor Review of Legal and Social Issues and her active involvement in Windsor Law's legal aid clinic. Denise's passion for law was also evident through her participation in the bilingual Laskin Moot, showcasing her prowess in administrative and constitutional law.

Before her engagement with our office, Denise accumulated significant experience working with two of Canada's leading banks, enriching her understanding and expertise in the banking sector. Her educational background is as distinguished, with a J.D. from the University of Windsor and dual degrees in Commerce and Arts from Queen’s University, laying a solid foundation for her legal career.

Since being admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2015, Denise has been recognized for her academic excellence, notably as a Blakes Scholar, and remains actively involved with key legal associations including the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Denise's multifaceted expertise, especially in banking and finance, infrastructure, and corporate matters, aligns with the firm's focus on serving clients across financial institutions, energy, infrastructure, resources, and technology sectors, making her an invaluable asset to our team and the clients we serve.
