Kiri Buchanan

Kiri Buchanan's journey in the legal field is marked by a diverse and dynamic range of expertise, particularly in corporate and commercial law. Her focus areas span the intricacies of private equity, mergers and acquisitions, alongside corporate finance and securities, not to mention the general corporate affairs she handles with finesse.

Her initial foray into our team began with a summer stint in 2018, leading her back to us to fulfil her articling commitments over the subsequent years, 2019 and 2020. It was during her articling that Kiri ventured into a secondment with Metrolinx. This experience enriched her understanding and provided hands-on involvement with contracts, real estate, and transportation matters, broadening her practical knowledge significantly.

Kiri's academic achievements are equally impressive. Her time in law school was distinguished by notable accolades such as the Cohen Highley LLP Award and the Edward C. Elwood Q.C. Prize in Wills and Trusts. Her role as VP administration of the Student Legal Society and her tenure as a teaching assistant in healthcare law underscore her leadership and dedication to the legal community. Notably, her contributions to healthcare law earned her a nomination for the Graduate Student Teaching Assistant Award of Excellence, highlighting her exceptional teaching skills.

Beyond her legal practice, Kiri's intellectual contributions extend to legal and scientific publications, evidence of her analytical prowess and commitment to contributing to academic discourse.

Kiri's educational background is a testament to her dedication and intellectual curiosity, holding a J.D. from Western University, an M.Sc. from the University of Toronto, and a B.Sc. (Hons) from Western University, with her legal practice officially commencing in Ontario in 2020. Her journey reflects a blend of rigorous academic training, practical experience, and a commitment to excellence in the legal profession.
