Colette Koopman

Colette specializes in litigation and dispute resolution, tackling a wide array of cases including corporate/commercial conflicts, class actions, and issues in securities and competition law. She has skillfully represented clients in front of various judicial bodies, including the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Alberta Court of King's Bench.

Her work includes significant cases such as representing CN Rail in the extensive federal environmental approval process for its Milton Logistics Hub Project, and defending a prominent Canadian bank in a notable overtime class action. Colette also played a key role in the Mackenzie Valley Fibre Link PPP project, a groundbreaking initiative to extend fibre optic communication in the Northwest Territories.

Colette has contributed to legal scholarship, including co-authoring an article on the interpretation of "material changes" under the Securities Act, showcasing her deep understanding of complex legal issues.

Before joining the legal field, Colette gained valuable experience in contract administration on the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project, a testament to her versatile skill set. Her academic achievements are notable, having graduated near the top of her class and receiving several awards for her academic and extracurricular contributions.

Outside the courtroom, Colette has shown commitment to her community, engaging in various legal clinics and societies during her time in law school, demonstrating her dedication to both her profession and her community.

Colette's education, including a JD and BComm from Queen's University, coupled with her bar admission in Ontario in 2021, forms the foundation of her promising career in law.
