Ronald Manes, a co-founder of Torkin Manes, began his legal career handling both criminal and civil matters, transitioning over time to focus solely on civil litigation. His expertise spans a diverse array of serious tort and commercial litigation cases, including medical malpractice, actions under the Competition Act, and shareholder disputes. Ronald has represented clients at every court level, up to the Supreme Court of Canada, and has served as principal counsel for numerous Commissions and public entities.

His academic journey led him from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he completed his undergraduate law degree, to Harvard Law School, where he earned his graduate law degree as a Laidlaw Fellow.

In addition to his legal practice, Ronald is a prolific author, having penned a wide array of legal articles and four books. His latest work, “Persuasive Trial Advocacy,” was published by Thomson Reuters in 2020.

Ronald's contributions to law and public service have been recognized with multiple awards. He has served as a long-term Bencher (Governor) of the Law Society of Ontario and dedicated efforts towards improving Access to Justice, notably through pro bono work and volunteering with Pro Bono Ontario.

His legal credentials are reinforced by his admission to the Ontario Bar in 1974, following his LLM from Harvard Law School in 1972 and his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1971. Ronald's extensive experience and commitment to the legal profession and community service underscore his standing as a respected figure in the legal community.
