Jonathan Mertz, now an associate at Lenczner Slaght, embarked on his legal career with valuable experience as a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of Justice and the Divisional Court. This role provided him with an immersive understanding of judicial processes, assisting in motions, appeals, applications for judicial review, and various civil trials.

Graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in the top 4% of his class, Jonathan's academic journey was marked by his dedication to public service. He contributed to Pro Bono Students Canada, focusing on projects aimed at addressing issues related to poverty and mental health law. In his senior year, Jonathan broadened his skill set through participation in Osgoode’s Mediation Clinic, serving as a community mediator for the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Counsel.

Jonathan's pre-law school studies were rooted in history at the University of Windsor, where he achieved both a BA and an MA. His master's thesis delved into how political ideologies influence historical narratives.

His areas of legal practice include arbitration, commercial litigation, construction and infrastructure, and trusts and estates litigation. Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2022, Jonathan's education credentials include a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2021, an MA in History from the University of Windsor in 2018, and a BA in Combined Honours in History and Political Science from the same university in 2016.
