At Lenczner Slaght, Mahgol Taghivand contributes as an associate with a rapidly expanding scope of practice that includes commercial disputes, civil litigation, and professional accountability and standards. Her journey with Lenczner Slaght started during her summer and articling phases before her formal admission to the Bar.

A 2022 graduate of Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law, Mahgol showcased her commitment to justice and legal advocacy early on. She played a vital role at Queen’s Legal Aid as a student caseworker, advocating on behalf of clients entangled in criminal, landlord-tenant, and disability benefits cases. Her passion for moot court competitions was evident through her coaching responsibilities and her significant contribution to the Jessup Moot team, which earned notable recognitions both nationally and globally.

Her engagement extended beyond moot courts; she actively contributed to the organization of significant conferences addressing human rights in the context of pandemic challenges and colonial influences in modern times, reflecting her deep interest in societal issues. Mahgol furthered her exposure to the legal field through internships and observerships focusing on Charter rights, international legal matters, and criminal law, notably with the Department of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston.

Mahgol’s dedication to protecting civil liberties and constitutional rights was further demonstrated during her tenure as a summer intern at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, where she immersed herself in the intricacies of privacy and equality concerns.

Before her legal education, Mahgol pursued a Master’s in Science at the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Biology & Psychology at McMaster University, illustrating her diverse academic background and analytical skills.

Mahgol’s credentials are marked by her Ontario Bar admission in 2023, following her JD from Queen’s University, an MSc from the University of Toronto, and an HBSc from McMaster University, setting a solid foundation for her promising legal career.
